The services we offer at the Royal Aero Club are made possible by an amazing network of volunteers. By giving your time you can help us fulfil our vision of shaping the next generation of pilots, leaders, and aviators as we putting wings on their dreams.

As a part-time flying school we generally operate on weekends and public holidays, as well as ad-hoc weekday camps. All our positions are ideal for individuals who have a genuine passion for aviation and want to support the industry to help put wings on the dreams of young people.

Become a Royal Aero Club Flight Instructor
About the role

We are looking for suitably qualified flight instructors to join our team and volunteer their time to fly on a casual basis with the Royal Aero Club. As a part-time flying school we generally operate on weekends and public holidays, as well as ad-hoc weekday camps.


This role would be ideal for individuals who have a genuine passion for aviation and want to give back to the industry to help put wings on the dreams of young people.

Applicants who may have previously held a Flight Instructor Rating are also encouraged to apply as we can re-activate your former qualifications through our in-house flight examiners.

Qualifications
  • Must hold or be able to hold a NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Must at a minimum hold a Commercial Pilots Licence Aeroplane category rating issued under CASR Part 61.
  • Must at a minimum hold a Flight Instructor Rating Grade 3, Grade 2, or Grade 1 training endorsement (desirable to hold a current FPC but not a requirement).
  • Must at a minimum hold/be able to obtain a valid Class 2 aviation medical.
  • Must have reliable transport to attend Camden Airport.
  • Knowledge of CASR Part 61 flight crew licensing legislation and CASR Part 141 flight training legislation or wiliness to learn.
  • Ability to apply competency-based training principles and safety principals to pilot training and aeroplane operation.
  • Ability to communication effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Desirable to hold a Night VFR rating training endorsement.

Join our Dispatch Team
About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Presenting yourself and the club in a positive manner
  • Warmly greet students and club members
  • Handle incoming phone calls
  • Dispatch aircraft and collect payments
  • Maintain and update student/instructor files
  • Process new membership paperwork
  • Communicate aircraft maintenance status to inquiring members and aircraft owners
  • Other general administrative tasks as directed

Training will also be provided on the job.

Qualifications
  • Must hold or be able to hold a NSW Working With Children Check
  • Basic computer skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to absorb, retain, and apply information
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully multi-task
